Interactive Honey Tasting Workshop

Explore the diverse world of American honey with Frank Moriarty, an experienced apiarist and aspiring honey sommelier. Learn how honey bees pollinate essential crops and discover how the unique landscapes of all 50 states produce a rich variety of flavors, textures, and aromas perfect for pairing with your favorite tea.

The session begins with a sensory exercise designed to sharpen the palate and enhance the sense of aroma. Gain an understanding of why honeys differ in flavor, density, and scent, and how these unique traits transform the tasting experience.

The journey starts on the East Coast, traveling from the rugged shores of Maine to the wooded Blue Ridge Mountains of the Carolinas. From there, explore the Midwest’s lighter, sweeter honeys before moving to the Plains States, where the Dakotas offer hearty, robust varieties.

The exploration extends beyond U.S. borders, featuring honeys from Canada and New Zealand. The tasting concludes with the unique textures of natural creamed honey and fresh comb honey.

Whether searching for the perfect tea pairing or simply eager to learn more about nature’s sweet gift, this delicious and educational journey into the world of bees promises a memorable experience.
